Match-day transport options

#1

MBTA Commuter Rail — Foxboro Event Train

Recommended World Cup special fare

Special match-day commuter trains run from South Station (Boston) to Foxboro station, which is inside the Patriot Place complex — a 5-min walk to the stadium. Trains start 4 hours before kickoff and don't run on non-event days. Buy on the mTicket app.

Duration: 60–75 min Cost: USD ~80 round-trip (special World Cup fare — ~10× normal USD 8.75)
#2

Logan Express + 'Patriot Place Shuttle'

From Logan Airport, take the Logan Express to Framingham, then the dedicated FIFA shuttle to Gillette. Less crowded than South Station on big match days.

Duration: ~90 min from airport
#3

Drive — only if you have to

Lot pre-purchase is required (USD 80) — gates open 4 hours before kickoff. Route 1 backs up severely; use I-95 to I-495 to MA-140 instead.

Leaving the stadium

Return trains depart 30 min after the final whistle and run for 90 min. Don't stop for food at Patriot Place first — the queues will mean missing the last train.

Heads up

  • ·MBTA confirmed match-day train tickets at ~USD 80 round-trip — nearly 10× the normal Foxboro fare. Buy in advance on mTicket; walk-up purchase risks selling out.
  • ·There is no overnight transit option. If you miss the last train, expect a USD 250+ Uber back to Boston with surge.
