Emergency & support

If something goes wrong — here's exactly what to do.

Universal emergency number

911

Works across all three host countries. Police, fire and medical.

Travel insurance — strongly recommended

Medical costs in the United States can be very high without insurance, and serious treatment can be expensive depending on the situation. Travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover medical emergencies and unexpected costs. Many travelers choose coverage of USD 100,000 or more, including emergency evacuation. Popular travel insurance providers include World Nomads, SafetyWing, IMG Global and Allianz Travel — compare coverage, exclusions and price before buying.

Health & hospitals — step by step

  1. 1Save your insurance policy number and 24h emergency line in your phone before leaving home.
  2. 2On arrival, take a photo of your passport, visa, and insurance card. Store in cloud (Google Drive, iCloud).
  3. 3If you need a doctor: call your insurance hotline FIRST — they'll direct you to in-network hospitals so you avoid paying upfront.
  4. 4Pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Shoppers, Farmacias del Ahorro) handle minor needs without prescription: cold medicine, painkillers, antihistamines.
  5. 5For non-emergency English/Spanish/Portuguese telehealth, apps like Teladoc work in the USA.

Find your embassy

It is recommended to save the address and 24h emergency line for your country's nearest consulate in every host city you'll visit. Passport replacement generally requires an in-person visit — appointment availability may vary, so start early.

Lost something? Do this now

Lost passport

1) File a police report (required by your embassy). 2) Visit your country's embassy/consulate with the police report, a passport photo, and any ID copies. 3) Emergency travel document is usually issued same day or next.

Lost match ticket

Mobile tickets are tied to your FIFA ID. Log into your FIFA account from any device — your ticket is in your wallet. If you lost your phone, request a re-issue at the official FIFA help desk near the stadium.

Lost credit/debit cards

1) Freeze the card immediately in your bank app. 2) Use Apple Pay / Google Pay as backup if you'd set it up beforehand. 3) Contact your bank's international support line (save it before traveling).

Lost phone

1) Use 'Find My' (Apple) or 'Find My Device' (Google) on a friend's phone or any computer. 2) If gone for good: remote-wipe it. 3) File police report (helps with insurance claim).

Personal safety

  • ·Avoid showing large amounts of cash, jewelry or premium phones in crowded transit hubs and post-match exits.
  • ·Using ATMs inside banks during business hours is generally safer than standalone street ATMs.
  • ·Recommendation: share your live location with one trusted person via Find My or Google Maps during late-night moves.
  • ·In Mexico, registered ride-hailing apps (Uber, Didi, Cabify) are commonly preferred over street taxis after dark.
  • ·Travelers should follow local regulations regarding identification and keep documents secure — many people carry a copy and store the original safely.
